Fifth- and sixth-grade students at North Strabane Intermediate School recently had a pizza and ice cream party provided by Sam’s Pizza of Canonsburg and Canonsburgh Shop ‘n’ Save. The event was the culmination of a project highlighting the concept of respect. Each classroom created its own working definition of respect. Students also identified ways to show respect at home, in the community, at school, and in cyberspace.  Each student was responsible for a “Respect Card.” Whenever an adult at school witnessed a student showing respect to a peer, an adult or school property, the student’s card would be initialed and dated.  Students who received 10 signatures got to attend the party.
