McGovern – Sams
Shady Elms Farm in Hickory was the setting for the wedding of Hannah Rebecca Sams and Jonathan Michael McGovern, who were married May 26, 2013, with Gary Sams officiating the 5 p.m. ceremony.
James I. and Margaret Sams of Venetia are the bride’s parents. Her grandparents are Marguerite Griffith of Wooster, Ohio, the late James Griffith and the late James and Rose Sams.
The bridegroom’s parents are Susan Woodward of Lancaster and John T. McGovern of Tampa, Fla. His grandparents are Charles and Joan Cousar of Lancaster and Marilyn Burgy of Bradenton, Fla.
Maid of honor was Jeanna Kamphaus of McMurray. Bridesmaids were Melissa Kiefer, Ashley Sams, cousin of the bride, Caylee Sams, cousin of the bride, and Cassidy McGovern, niece of the groom
Flower girls were Miriam Acker and Elle McGovern, niece of the groom.
Best man was Ryan T. McGovern of Oklahoma City, Okla., brother of the groom. Ushers were Jesse McCall, Monica Kottapolly, James A. Sams, brother of the bride, and Yaniv Aronson. Ring bearer was Sam, the couple’s dog.
A reception was held at the wedding site.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of Peters Township High School. She received a degree in viola performance from Penn State University and a graduate degree in arts management and nonprofit business administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
The groom is a 2001 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School. He earned degrees from Penn State University in psychology and biology and is a fourth-year student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
The newlyweds took a honeymoon trip to St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, and make their home in Pittsburgh.
