Cecil resident receives award
Donald Campbell of Cecil was named Employee Volunteer of the Year 2013 by Dominion Resources Services.
Campbell spends many hours on the road, splitting his work week between Dominion’s D.L. Clark Building in Pittsburgh and 55th Street Center in Cleveland, but he still makes time to contribute hundreds of volunteer hour.
Campbell serves as vice president, coach and dance coordinator for the Adaptive Sports Organization in Washington County, which provides special needs individuals an opportunity to play sports. Campbell and other parents of children with disabilities founded the group, which began with soccer and has now expanded to include other sports and activities, such as baseball, dance, bowling and tennis.
“We got involved when our daughter was 3, and now she’s 21,” Campbell said. His participation involves more than 200 hours each year.
Campbell also serves as treasurer and assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 1369 of Cecil. Campbell contributes 168 hours annually, which includes weekly troop meetings, Scoutmaster conferences and troop committee meetings. He also sets aside of week of vacation to accompany the troop to its annual summer camp.
The Dominion Foundation has made a $1,000 contribution in Campbell’s name to the Adaptive Sports Organization.
