Santa program helps needy seniors

1 min read

Home Instead Senior Care is teaming up with nonprofit agencies and area retailers to sponsor Be a Santa to a Senior, a program that collects, wraps and delivers gifts to lonely and needy seniors in Southwestern Allegheny and Washington counties.

Trees have been placed at retailers, and contain ornaments with seniors’ first names and their gift requests. Shoppers can select an ornament from the trees, buy the items and return them unwrapped to the store with the ornament attached. The last day to participate is Dec. 9.

Locally, trees are located at Washington Crown Center, plus Oxford Management Co., Curves and Walgreens in Bethel Park.

Community gift-wrapping parties will be held Dec. 12, with delivery to seniors on Dec. 13.
