Belle Vernon Church of the Nazarene will be host a blood drive and spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the church fellowship hall, 108 Reed Ave., in an effort to support a parishioner’s fight against cancer and its effects. Don Gregory of West Newton has been fighting cancer and has been in need of regular blood transfusions to maintain treatment. The blood drive is being conducted by American Red Cross and appointments can be scheduled by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. Walk-ins also are welcome. The spaghetti dinner will include pasta with meatballs, garlic toast, salad and beverage for a donation of $5 to the Cancer Relief Fund for the Don Gregory family. Takeout is available. All-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at American Legion Post 175, 168 Park Ave., Washington. Cost is $5. Proceeds benefit Sons of American Legion.
Innovations in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome will be discussed by Dr. Daniel T. Stewart, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand surgery, at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Education Conference Center at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Holiday cookie tray sale sponsored by the Auxiliary of Mon-Vale Health Resources Inc. will begin at 10 a.m. Dec. 6 in the lobby at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Claysville Volunteer Fire Department Station 31 will have its 2013 Claysville VFD Christmas Parade Dec. 7 with lineup beginning at 5:30 and the parade beginning at 6 p.m. All area organizations, families and individuals are encouraged to participate. Santa Claus will arrive on a fire engine. Floats and vehicles should be lit as the parade will be after dark. Floats, marching units, cars, etc., should assemble in the parking lot of Claysville Elementary school with all fire, EMS and other emergency vehicles staging on Route 40 west of the Catholic church. Santa will visit with the children and hear their Christmas wishes after the parade in Claysville Community Building. Claysville American Legion Post 639 will provide treats.
