Program builds awareness about domestic violence

1 min read

Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pa. is participating in Cut It Out, a national program that builds awareness of domestic violence issues for area salon professionals. The program also educates salon employees on how to recognize the warning signs of domestic violence and how to respond appropriately.

“Too often, victims of domestic violence are forced to endure the abuse alone and are isolated from places where they could perhaps turn to for safety and support,” said Lisa Hannum, DVSSP prevention/education coordinator.

More than 20,000 salon professionals and cosmetology students across the country have attended seminars since the program launched in 2003. For more information or to participate, call Hannum at 724-223-5477, email LH@peacefromdv.org or visit www.cutitout.org.
