Monongahela woman named director
Roberta Smith of Monongahela was recently named executive director of the Ligonier Valley Historical Society.
Smith, who previously served as program coordinator, will be responsible for planning and implementing all public programs at LVHS and the Compass Inn Museum, increasing membership and creating partnerships with local organizations.
Smith has a bachelor’s degree from St. Vincent College and a master’s degree from the University of Baltimore. She has been employed in the museum field for more than 20 years. Most recently, she worked at historic St. Mary’s City in Maryland.
Smith is an active member of the American Alliance of Museums, the National Council on Public History, the Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums and Monongahela Historical Society.
