McGuffey educator among top leaders

1 min read

Dr. Erica L. Kolat, superintendent of McGuffey School District, was selected recently by the U.S. Department of Education as one of 100 top school leaders from across the United States to participate in the first “ConnectED to the Future” at the White House.

Kolat is one of eight Pennsylvania school leaders who will be recognized for their leadership in helping transition their districts to digital learning. During the event, President Obama will host a digital pledge-signing ceremony with more than 100 superintendents to be joined virtually by hundreds more across the country.

Started in 2013, the ConnectED initiative is designed to connect 99 percent of students to high-speed Internet and empower teachers with the technology they need to transform teaching and learning. More than $4 billion in public and private funding has been committed to expanding high-speed Internet connectivity for schools and libraries.
