Training for food handlers being offered

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture requires licensed food establishments to employ one supervisory employee who has successfully completed a food safety training class.

To help food establishments meet this requirement, Penn State Extension will offer a Food Safety Training course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 14 and 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 21, followed by the exam at 1 p.m., at the Washington County Penn State Extension Office.

Course fee is $175 per person and includes the ServSafe course book, instructional materials and refreshment breaks.

Registration is required by visiting extension.psu.edu/food-safety/events and completing the information. Those who do not have Internet access should call the extension office in Westmoreland County.
