Robotics team advances to states
Two rookie FIRST Technology Robotics teams, which were formed in September by the Creative Learning Collaborative and Titanium Titans No. 4467, recently advanced to the semifinals of the Southwestern Pennsylvania FTC Regional Tournament.
Tech-No-Logic No. 7143 was knocked out of the finals after experiencing electronic problems, but A.I.R. No. 7058 won the championship and will advance to the FTC state championship March 1 at Millersville University.
The teams are composed of seventh- through ninth-graders in the South Fayette, Peters Township and Upper St. Clair school districts, and include cyberschool and homeschooled students.
A.I.R. team members are Reese Benonis, James Grosz, Tate Hartman, Ty Hartman, Graham Kretschmar, Tanish Rastogi, Nick Meyers, Vineeth Sharma, Christian Wren and Joshua Zeisloft. Their mentors are Aaron Hartman, Nirmala Sharma and Eric Zeisloft.
Tech-No-Logic team members are Justin Corbin, Nathan Levin, Grant Ogburn, Gerry Pasquale, Christian Pierce, Nicki Phelps, Adam Robertson, Anthony Romero, Dan Witkowski and Carson Zakis. Their mentors are Jack Levin, Patrick Ogburn, Paul Romero and Angelo Zakis.
