School news
Four area students recently attended Keystone Boys State at Shippensburg University for a leadership course sponsored by the American Legion Department of Pennsylvania. American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of Washington locally sponsored the students. They were:
• Stephen Aber, son of Scott and Mary Aber of Washington. He is a senior at Trinity High School.
• Kyle Kozlowski, son of Kevin and Victoria Kozlowski of Washington. He is a senior at Trinity High School and was named a Samsung American Legion Scholarship National Finalist based on academics and school and community involvement.
• Anthony Salvatori, son of Kurt and Tamara Salvatori of Washington. He is a senior at Trinity High School. He was nominated for Boys Nation in Washington, D.C.
• Coleman Slain, son of Doug and Tami Slain of Canonsburg. He is a senior at Canon-McMillan High School.
American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of Washington sponsored two girls for the 69th annual session in June of the Department of Pennsylvania Keystone Girls State at Shippensburg University, where they studied government at the city, county and state levels. They were Taylor Kanczes and Sara Bartczak. Kanczes, daughter of Catherine Kanczes, is a junior at West Mifflin High School, and Bartczak, daughter of Doreen and Jonathan Bartczak, is a junior at Peters Township High School.
