RootsTech to hold Family History Day
The first RootsTech Pittsburgh Family History Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 250 N. Dithridge St., Pittsburgh.
The free event is designed for novice and experienced genealogists, and is being sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Those who attend can participate in a variety of classes or get individual help in a staffed Internet café. Topics include “Finding Your African-American Family,” “Google Your Ancestors” and “Finding Your Family in the Catholic Archives.”
Classes will be taught by local experts, including members of the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society and the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society. Special sessions also will be available for 12- to 18-year-olds.
There also is a class for beginners, “Introduction to FamilySearch.”
