Washington Health System Sports Medicine, in conjunction with Fort Cherry, Trinity and Washington high schools, recently announced its January athletes and coach of the month. They are: • Justin Eicher, a senior on Washington’s rifle team. Eicher has a 4.4 grade-point average and ranks fourth in his class. He also scored 100s in seven of nine of the team’s rifle matches this season. • Emily Lucas, a senior at Fort Cherry who plays volleybal and basketball. Lucas suffered a severe injury to her right knee during her junior basketball season. Through her commitment to rehabilitation, she was back on the volleyball court for her senior year. She was captain of the volleyball team her junior and senior years. She has a 3.8 grade-point average. • Gary Kacsur, girls basketball coach at Fort Cherry. Kacsur was recognized for his positive attitude and two coaching mottos that he reminds his team of daily: family, school and basketball and never quit. Fort Cherry has posted winning seasons both years Kascur has served as head coach. He also umpires community softball.
