Produce to People distribution set
Produce to People food distribution will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday in the main exhibit hall at Washington County Fairgrounds.
Registration will be held on site, and documentation of income is not required. Clients must sign a self-certification of need stating that they understand the three ways to qualify and that they meet one of the three.
Households qualify if they meet one of the following:
• Earned income is within 150 percent of the poverty level;
• Receive any other form of assistance like Medicare, Social Security, unemployment, free or reduced school lunches;
• Have a temporary emergency condition, such as fire or loss of power.
Families are asked to bring bags, boxes or a rolling cart in order to carry the food because each family will receive between 30 and 50 pounds of food. The emphasis will be on produce.
After the first distribution in November, there will be a distribution once a month year-round. The produce distribution is designed to be a supplement to the food assistance that is provided by the local food pantry.
