Tornado climatology topic of program

The science of tornadoes will be discussed when the California University of Pennsylvania Meteorology Club welcomes Dr. P. Grady Dixon at 11 a.m. Oct. 2 in Eberly Hall, room 120, as part of the club’s Fall Colloquia Series.

The presentation is free. Visitor parking is available in the Vulcan Garage.

Dixon, an expert in physical geography and meteorology, is chairman of the Department of Geosciences at Fort Hays State University in Kansas. He has appeared on CNN and The Weather Channel. His most recent research has focused on the effects of weather on human health and mortality, weather and climate effects on wildlife behavior and tornado climatology.

Dixon earned a bachelor of science in geosciences from Mississippi State University, a master of science in geography from the University of Georgia and a doctorate in geography from Arizona State University.
