Social media in politics topic of program
The American Democracy Project at California University of Pennsylvania will sponsor two free presentations addressing timely social issues in the Eberly Science and Technology Center, Room 110. .
At 11 a.m. April 21, nationally recognized campaign and communications consultant Mark Weaver will present “Yik Yak, Super PACs: Social Media Tools Used in Politics.”
Weaver will discuss the role of Twitter, Yik Yak and other fast-paced communication vehicles within the political arena.
At 11 a.m. April 23, a new series of campus conversations about “wicked problems,” such as poverty, sustainability and equality, that are difficult, if not impossible, to solve will begin.
The initial panel presentation will introduce the Wicked Problems concept. Faculty speakers represent the departments of nursing, history, political science, communication studies and childhood education.
Admission is free, and visitor parking is available in the Vulcan Garage.
