Master Gardener program accepting applications
Penn State Cooperative Extension in Greene County is accepting applications for the 2015-16 Master Gardener program.
The program consists of a volunteer training course designed to provide home gardeners with information and skills necessary to share their experience and knowledge with others.
Weekly classes will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 1 through March 11, 2016.
In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, trainees must volunteer 50 hours for Penn State Cooperative Extension. Current volunteer activities in Greene County include a spring seminar, the Poison Prevention Program and monitoring pollinators.
Program fee of $175 covers the cost of training materials and expenses. Applications are being accepted through Sept. 9 and are available at the Greene County office and at www.extension.psu.edu/plants/master-gardener.
