American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association Chapter 156 of Canonsburg recently awarded the second annual J.P. Pankas Memorial Scholarships to Canon-McMillan High School graduates Lucas Carroll and Malina Dziak. The award is funded by executors of the John and Harriet Pankas estate. Carroll, son of Clinton and Zeffie Carroll of Canonsburg, was a Top 10 honors student, Hines Ward Pittsburgh Positive Athlete of the Week and a member of National Honor Society. He is enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh, where he is pursuing a degree in bioengineering. Dziak, daughter of John and Tulla Dziak of Canonsburg, was a four-year high honor student, participates in dance and volunteers with the local food bank and as a Children’s Hospital fundraiser. She has been accepted at Duquesne University, where she plans to pursue a degree in international business.
