Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers valued at $20 will be distributed by Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging and Aging Services of Washington County from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday on the second floor of the Plaza Building, 150 W. Beau St., Washington.
The program provides four $5 vouchers to eligible people one time during the program year. Vouchers can be redeemed at area farmers markets in the “PA Preferred” posters through Nov. 30.
To be eligible for the senior FMNP vouchers, an individual must be 60 years old by Dec. 31 of the program year and a resident of Washington, Greene or Fayette counties. An eligible individual’s gross income, which includes interest, Social Security, wages, Black Lung, etc., must be at or below $21,775. For two people in a household, the income can be $29,471; a three-person household income can be $37,167.
Seniors can authorize a proxy to pick up and use the FMNP vouchers as long as the benefits ultimately reach the eligible participant. However, proxy statements must be completed before picking up the vouchers. Proxy statements are available at local senior centers and Area Agency on Aging offices.
