Washington County Future Farmers of America recently held their floriculture contest, with 26 members from the Fort Cherry, McGuffey and Trinity chapters competing. Members were tested on their written knowledge, flower identification, floral tool identification and corsage design using carnations and other foliage and ribbon. Winners were the following: • Haley Phillips, a senior at Trinity High School, who took first-place individual. Her mother is Jill Wolpink of Washigton; • Raegan Smith, a sophomore at Fort Cherry High School, who captured second-place individual. Her parents are Bryan and Karen Smith of McDonald; • Kansas Ealy, a senior at McGuffey High School, who finished third. Her parents are Dave and Rosella Ealy of West Alexander.
