Fort Pitt Museum closed until Jan. 31
The Fort Pitt Museum, part of the Senator John Heinz History Center museum system, will close Monday for exhibition maintenance and updating. The museum will reopen Jan. 31.
Upgrades will include the installation of interactive activities for children, maintenance of the museum’s lifelike figures and updates to educational areas in preparation for a busy school group visitation schedule in the spring.
The museum also will prepare artifacts and research for an upcoming exhibition on Indian captivity in Western Pennsylvania during the 17th and 18th centuries, which is set to open in May.
The museum will release its full 2015 schedule of living history programs later in the spring.
