Chicken-and-biscuit community dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown Road, Washington. Dinner includes mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw or fruit, dessert and beverage. A free-will offering will be accepted, and all proceeds will benefit local charities. Takeout will be available. Reservations will be taken for 2015 for the South Franklin Township Community Building and pavilion through February, starting at 8:30 a.m. today at the South Franklin Municipal Building. South Franklin Township residents must apply in person, and a deposit is required. Pavilion deposit is $125, and the building deposit is $100. Beginning March 2, reservations will be open to non-residents during regular office hours, which are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting live Christmas trees for recycling through Jan. 25 at Mingo and Cross Creek County parks. The recycled trees will be used to improve fish habitat at Cross Creek County Park. Trees can be dropped off during park hours at both parks. Cross Creek drop-off point is the boat trailer parking lot; drop-off at Mingo is the Shelter 1 parking lot. For more information, call 724-228-6811.

Wheeling Civic Garden Center, Oglebay Park, will hold its annual meeting Jan. 23. Lunch will begin at noon, and the meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Designer Cindy Shank will present a brief program.
