Kendra Boni knows physical fitness.

And while the strengths and weaknesses of the participants she drives each year change, the Biggest Winner contest format itself is another thing Boni knows inside out.

“I have worked with the Biggest Winner every year,” Boni said. “I started it here at the wellness center.”

Boni is fitness manager at the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center in South Strabane Township, and also is serving as the personal trainer for the Observer-Reporter team of two men and four women.

Judging by her credentials, you could say that Boni is quite “fit” to be a personal trainer.

The Houston resident graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. Since then, she has added certifications including health fitness instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine, spin instructor certification through Mad Dogg Spinning and group exercise certification through the aerobics Fitness Association of America.

A native of Union High School in Clarion County, Boni has been with the wellness center since 2006.

Boni has been serving as fitness manager since 2011. In that role, she manages the center’s exercise physiologists, as well as all personal trainers in fitness, aquatics, yoga and Pilates. She also trains clients every week.

She said she enjoys working with people of all fitness levels and abilities, noting that the O-R team members are similar to those on competing Biggest Winner teams in that they are of different ages and experience levels.

Boni and her husband, Brad, have two sons: Jaden, 2, and Abram, 3 months.
