Canon-McMillan receives tennis grants

1 min read

Canon-McMillan School District has received two grants that will help defray the $170,000 makeover to improve its tennis facilities and community access to the sport.

The U.S. Tennis Association awarded a $10,000 grant for the reconstruction of four existing 78-foot tennis courts to include blended 36-foot and 60-foot lines.

The goal of the grant, according to the USTA, is to “provide communities access to safe, appealing and functional tennis environments.”

A second grant for $880 also was awarded by the U.S. Tennis Association Middle States Section. Known as a Grown the Game grant, it is to be used to help fund the blended lines to the newly resurfaced courts, as well as equipment and instructor-related expenses.
