Mingo Creek County Park Observatory will host a visit to the observatory program for preschoolers ages 3 to 5 Wednesday. Planetarium programs to observe constellations and view distant planets begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Afterward, members of the Amateur Astronomers of Pittsburgh will lead a tour of the observatory and its telescopes. The observatory is located near Shelter 10. Registration is required; call 724-228-6867. There is no fee. Participants should dress for the weather.

Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a Walk and Talk program beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday at Shelter 1 in Mingo Creek County Park. The program will continue to meet on the first Thursday of each month through November. Dress for the weather and light walking. Registration is required; call 724-228-6867. There is no fee.

“Spring into Summer,” a vendor and craft show, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Avella Community Center, 11 School Court. The show will include a Chinese auction, home decor, beauty products, handcrafted items, handbags, jewelry, children’s items, gourmet delights, lamb sandwiches and food vendors. Proceeds benefit Cedar Grove Park in Cross Creek Township. Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a needle and yarn craft workshop at 10 a.m. April 8 at the Mingo Creek County Park office. The craft will be a scrap fabric wreath. Participants should bring about two yards of extra fabric and scraps. Pinking shears or a rotary cutter can also be brought if available. The metal wreath will be provided, in addition to refreshments and a small snack. Fee is $3. Registration is required; call 724-228-6867.

Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a homeschool outdoor classroom for children ages 5 to 11 April 9 at Shelter 3 in Mingo Creek County Park. Session I begins at 10 a.m. and Session II begins at 1 p.m. Students will learn about water conservation with the Washington County Watershed Alliance. They will participate in three different games that will demonstrate how water is usable, activities we do daily with water and how conservation can start at home. Registration is required; call 724-228-6867. There is no fee.

Old Trails Business and Professional Women’s Club will hold its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. April 13 at Kings Restaurant in Bentleyville. Students of the month in technology from four area high schools will be honored. A representative from the Mon Valley Health Center will speak about Staying Fit for Life. Applications for membership in Old Trails BPW are available.
