Washington Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a raffle for a Brinkman Porcelain Gas Grill, plus a grill cover, kabob set, grill brush, topper grill, pizza stone, grill light and Brinkman’s barbecue tool set and mitt. The package is valued at $700. Tickets are $3 each or two for $5, and can be purchased in the hospital gift shop. Drawing will be held June 5. All proceeds benefit Washington Health System.
Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown Road, Washington, will hold a community dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Menu includes cream chicken and biscuit, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw or fruit, dessert and beverage. A freewill offering will be accepted and all proceeds benefit local charities. Mother’s Day baked steak dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion post in West Alexander, 8 Main St. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children.

National Pike Chapter of the DAR will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. It is Student Recognition Night; the chapter will honor students with American History and Good Citizenship Awards, Junior American Citizens Award and the American History Essay Contest Award. Washington County Behavioral Health and Development Services and the Children’s Task Force will hold a family wellness event from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Vernon C. AFSCME Retired Chapter 13 sub-chapter 8402 will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Frank Sarris Public Library, 35 North Jefferson Ave., Canonsburg. Meetings occur every second Tuesday of the month, except in January and February. All state retired employees are welcome.

This program is the second in a series hosted by the library and is designed to bring American history to life.
