McGuffey graduate awarded scholarship

1 min read

Travis McCann of Claysville recently received a $500 scholarship from the Martha Washington Garden Club.

Every year, the club awards a scholarship to a Washington County student who has completed at least one year of college or university and plans to continue his or her education in agricultural or environmental studies.

McCann is a graduate of McGuffey High School and attends the University of Findlay in Ohio, where he is majoring in animal science/pre-veterinary medicine.

He has been a member of 4-H since he was 10 years old, and he and his family raise hogs for market and show at local fairs. They also sell some of their pigs to local 4-H participants, and McCann has mentored several children with their market hog projects.
