Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown Road, Washington, will hold a community dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Menu includes cream chicken and biscuit, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw or fruit, dessert and beverage. A freewill offering will be accepted and all proceeds benefit local charities. LeMoyne Community Center will hold two fundraisers Thursday. Applebee’s Bar & Grill in Washington will host a Steelers kickoff at 5 p.m., where they will be collecting nonperishable items and money. Atria’s Restaurant in McMurray will host a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. The restaurant will donate a portion proceeds for every person that spends at least $15.
Western Pennsylvania Lensshooters Camera Cub will hold its first meeting of the season at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 in Peters Township Public Library, 616 East McMurray Road, McMurray. Burgettstown Presbyterian Church, 15 Nicolas St., Slovan, invites women to join its Connected Threads knit and crochet group beginning Sept. 10. The group meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays to make items for women in shelters. Sessions begin with a half hour Bible study, followed by time to work on projects. Beginners to advanced skills are welcome and beginning basic knitting and crochet will be taught to anyone who wants to learn. Yarn and supplies are provided.
