Pigeon Creek church installs new pastor
Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four, has installed a new pastor, John Dykstra.
Dykstra was born and raised in New Jersey, the youngest of three children. He is a graduate of Westminster College, where he received a bachelor of arts in English.
After serving for three years in the Coalition for Christian Outreach, a campus ministry organization, he attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary while serving as youth director at Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin.
After he was ordained, he spent 13 years as associate pastor at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Bridgeville. Dykstra then served as pastor of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Sewickley before coming to Pigeon Creek Presbyterian in April.
Dykstra has two children from his first marriage, Jimmy, 21, and Marie, 17. In 2013, he married wife, Lisa, who has four sons, Rocky, Anthony, Vincent and Nico.
In their spare time, the couple like to play golf, walk and watch the Pittsburgh Pirates.
