Recovery Walk to promote prevention

1 min read

Washington Drug and Alcohol Commission, Inc. will host a Recovery Walk, “Together We Can,” Sept. 25, beginning at Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church in Washington, as part of National Drug and Alcohol Addiction Recovery Month.

Last year, WDAC served more than 2,000 county residents struggling with substance abuse issues, and more than 30 residents died from an overdose.

This event increases awareness and understanding of mental health and substance use disorders, and promotes the message that prevention works, treatment is effective and ultimately people recover.

On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a proclamation and speakers at 9 and the walk at 9:45. Refreshments will be provided.

Advance register is requested by calling the Washington Drug and Alcohol Commission at 724-223-1181, ext. 131. Free T-shirts will be provided to the first 100 people who register.
