Community Action Southwest seeking volunteer tutors

1 min read

Community Action Southwest is recruiting volunteers in Washington and Greene counties to tutor students in its Adult Education Program.

The program is designed to help area residents age 17 and older obtain their GED and/or increase their learning skills so they can enroll in a trade school or college or gain employment. Volunteers are needed to assist Pennsylvania-certified teachers with classes in Burgettstown, Bentleyville, Carmichaels, Donora, Washington and Waynesburg.

Classes are held on various days and times each week. Volunteers also can assist with tutoring students outside of the classroom through individual sessions at area libraries. Training will be provided, and volunteers will be asked to tutor students in subjects in which they are comfortable, including reading, writing, science, social studies and math. Volunteers must either have a bachelor’s degree or be actively pursuing a four-year degree at a college or university.

For more information or to volunteer, call Chris at 877-814-0788, ext. 528.
