Mon Valley YMCA to hold Yogathon
The Mon Valley YMCA will hold its first Yogathon from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 22 to celebrate its passion for good health through yoga and the life of Debbie McKita Kurtis.
Kurtis was an active member of the Y who died Sept. 12, 2010, at age 55.
Seven local yoga instructors will conduct the Yogathon. Cost is $15 per person, and all proceeds will benefit youth programming, providing every child with access to the Y’s youth and teen initiatives regardless of financial means. Youth and teen initiatives include early childhood education, teen leader volunteers, day care, youth and teen programs, summer child care, college internship program, summer day camp, competitive swim team, HALO after school program, lifeguard training certification, youth fitness programs, Special Olympics training and the John Barbero Memorial Scholarship.
Yogathon participants are asked to bring their own mats.
Registration is required by visiting the business office. T-shirts also can be purchased in the business office.
