The annual Chartiers Creek Watershed Association’s walk through the North Franklin wetlands will be held from 10 a.m. to noon April 23.

The group will meet in the parking lot next to the North Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company, 565 Sylvan Drive. Participants are asked to park on the west side of the lot. Rain date is April 24 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Dr. Jason Kilgore, assistant professor in the Department of Biology at Washington & Jefferson College, will again lead the walk. Kilgore’s background is wetland consulting, plant ecology and invasive plants. His current research focuses on the ecology of ponderosa pine in southern Arizona, Great Lakes coastal dune recovery and impacts of invasive pests and plants in deciduous forests. He will discuss the functions and values of wetlands.

Advance registration is requested for the free program by calling Jennifer Dann at 724-705-7098 visiting www.upperchartierscreek.org. Wear rubber boots or footwear that you don’t mind getting wet.
