Visitation workshop at Church of Covenant
Hands and Hearts of the Church of the Covenant will host a Health Ministry Workshop on visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 7 in the church’s dining room.
The workshop will be presented by the Pittsburgh Mercy Parish Nurse and Health Ministry Program, and is designed for elders, deacons, Hands and Hearts committees, ministry teams and anyone interested in visitation or caring of the sick and homebound.
Speakers will be registered nurses Amy B. Armanious, Sister Rebecca Nolan and Janice Holmes.
Topics include outreach to the sick and homebound; understanding how illness affects the body, mind and spirit; how to bring hope and encouragement; communication skills; making spirituality a part of the visit; confidentiality; and comforting in time of grieving.
