Plant a Tree at Flight 93
Plant a Tree at Flight 93 is marking its fourth year of a major reforestation effort to reclaim large areas of land at the memorial in Shanksville.
This year’s commemorative event will be held May 13-14. It is sponsored by National Park Service, Friends of Flight 93 and the National Park Foundation. Each year, more than 500 volunteers participate in the event. Last year, 32 acres were planted with 22,000 seedlings. The program is part of the architect’s vision for the memorial to be a place of renewal.
