Washington couple receive award for volunteerism
Presbyterian SeniorCare Network last month honored Christine and Pat O’Brien of Washington for their outstanding contributions of time, service and support with the Charles W. Pruitt Jr. Difference Award at the Andy Warhol Museum.
“We thank and congratulate Chris and Pat O’Brien for their longtime support of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network in the Washington community as recipients of this award,” said CEO and President Paul M. Winkler.
“I want to especially highlight this couple’s exceptional volunteer efforts for our annual Your Holiday Home fundraising event, which benefits the residents of the Washington campus of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network, and is a sellout every year.”
Christine O’Brien is a vital member of the event planning committee for the Your Holiday Home annual fundraiser, and Pat, a former Presbyterian SeniorCare Network board member, serves as emcee of the event.
To date, Your Holiday Home has raised more than $500,000 for residents of the Washington campus of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network.
The Charles W. Pruitt Jr. Difference Award is named in honor of the former president and CEO of Presbyterian SeniorCare and visionary, who led the organization between 1979 and 1998. The community award began in 1986.
Both Christine and Pat grew up in rural, farming communities in Washington Country. They currently live on an active sheep and horse farm, where Pat pursues agricultural interests, including shearing sheep and plowing his garden with horses.
They are the parents of three grown children, Sean, Molly and Collin.
Pat is senior executive vice president and CEO of Community Bank, a 115-year-old financial institution with headquarters in Washington, which serves Southwestern Pennsylvania with 16 offices in five counties. He also serves as a director of Community Bank and its parent company, CB Financial Services, and several other boards and business organizations in the region.
Christine is retired after working as a registered nurse at Washington Hospital. She currently works closely with her church and a team of local volunteers running Marianna Christian Outreach.
