WAYNESBURG – More than 80 local children attended the Greene County Department of Recreation’s “Breakfast with Santa” earlier this month at the Greene County Fairgrounds.

Children had the opportunity to sit with Santa Claus, discuss their Christmas lists with him and have their pictures taken. Mrs. Claus also was on hand to assist Santa with the guests.

Each child received a Santa Helper Hat, a special treat and a bag of reindeer food to help guide his sleigh team on Christmas Eve. Other activities included cookie decorating and a cookie Christmas ornament craft.

Children also had an opportunity to write letters to Santa and place them in the Department of Recreation’s “Official North Pole Mail” mailbox that was on display at the breakfast. More than 100 letters have been received, and the department’s elves will bundle all letters and ship them straight to the North Pole.

The Department of Recreation lauded Chef Dan Wagner and his students of the Greene County Career & Technology Center, who provided the breakfast. The holiday activities were sponsored by Chapman Corp. and presented by the Greene County commissioners and the Department of Recreation.
