United Way of Washington County will hold a mandatory meeting for local agencies interested in applying for Community Impact Grants for 2017-19 at 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center.

United Way representatives will review the application process and, based on community research, will summarize the community needs in United Way’s three focus areas of health, education and financial stability. They will also explain the funding priorities for the next two-year cycle. Each two-year funding cycle application process is open to the public and starts at zero based funding for all. After the meeting, interested parties will be required to send a letter of intent to United Way, indicating which focus area they are addressing, outlining the community program or service they hope to provide and the funding amount they intend to apply for.

Programs and services that best address community needs will be invited to submit full applications. Funding decisions will be made by citizen review panels from throughout the community, following months of program reviews and site visits to each agency. Approval will be based on the merits of the program, community need and funding dollars available. Final approval for funding will be by United Way’s board of directors in June.

Any agency interested in applying for funding must have a representative in attendance at the meeting. Email Jessica Tennant at jtennant@unitedwaywashco.org with the name of the agency, program and representative attending the meeting and include their email address. More than one agency representative may attend.
