Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation staff will host Preschool in the Park Tuesday. Participants will learn the history of Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney Phil’s predictions for the upcoming spring. A short hike to locate a groundhog den will also be included. Participants will meet at the Mingo Creek County Park office and the program is offered at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Each session will last about 75 minutes and is designed for children ages 3 through 5. Dress for the weather and a short hike. There is no fee and registration is required. To register, call 724-228-6867.

Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown Road, Washington, will hold a community dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Menu includes cream chicken and biscuit, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw or fruit, dessert and a beverage. Mon Valley Toastmasters Club will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Center in the Woods, 130 Woodland Court, Brownsville.

Boy Scouts of America Troop 1280 of Waynesburg will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, High Street, Waynesburg. Dinner will include salad, bread and a homemade dessert. Cost for adults is $7 and children 12 and under are $4. Takeout orders will be available. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Scouts or at the door.

Meet the candidate, an evening with Mayor John Fetterman, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 12 at Monessen Civic Center. Fetterman is running for the U.S. Senate.
