A watch party for the Democratic National Convention will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Thursday at Union Grill, 13 1/2 E. Wheeling St., Washington. There will be food and campaign merchandise. Street parking is free after 5 p.m.
Claysville Volunteer Fire Department, 154 Main St., will hold its 83rd annual festival at 5:59 p.m. Saturday. In addition to food, more than 100 prizes will be raffled beginning at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Claysville businesses, from members of the department and will be on sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in front of Community Bank in Claysville and from 9 a.m. until the time of the drawings the day of the festival. Prizes will be on display at Doug Nolin’s law office in Claysville. You do not need to be present to win. Prizes are provided by Claysville-area businesses and friends of the department. There will be bingo, a live band and games for adults and children.
Amwell Township will sponsor a Historic Driving Tour to eight locations in the Lone Pine and Amity areas from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. The tour will begin at the Lone Pine Christian Church and continue to homes and churches in the area. Locations include the Solomon Sibbit and Zachaariah Sharp houses, Cook Dodd Cabin and four churches. Refreshments will be available at the churches and the tour ends at the Amwell Township Community Building, where the historic display room will be open. Information and maps can be obtained beginning at noon at Lone Pine Christian Church.
Roscoe American Legion Post 801, 520 Furlong Ave., will hold its first “Run for a Goal” Aug. 6. Registration for the bike run begins at 9 a.m., and the ride will start at 11:30. Fee is $15 for riders and $10 for passengers. The event features a poker run, Chinese auction, bike games, 50/50 drawing, food and entertainment.
