Jocelyn Bordo of Canonsburg was awarded a renewable $1,500 scholarship by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. PICPA awards a limited number of scholarships to students majoring in accounting at a Pennsylvania college or university with outstanding scholastic achievement. Bordo attends Robert Morris University, where she received the university’s Presidential Scholarship and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Michael J. Counihan received the College Chemistry Award from the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh. The award includes a monetary prize and framed certificate of accomplishment. Counihan is a senior at Gettysburg College, where is majoring in chemistry and music. He also will be recognized with a monetary award presented to Gettysburg College Library in his honor and an engraved nameplate that will be added to the chemisty department listing. Counihan is a 2012 graduate of Peters Township High School, and his parents are Michael and Carolyn Counihan.

Andrew Eddy of Mt. Morris graduated cum laude from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. Eddy served as class president, communications vice president of the WVU chapter of American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists and treasurer of the Alpha Eta chapter of the Phi Lambda Sigma national pharmacy leadership society. Eddy was a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the WVU chapter of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists/Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the WVU chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association, for which he served as the proper medication disposal campaign chairman. He also served as a group leader for Pharmacy Day at the West Virginia Legislature. Eddy received the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust Scholarship, the James F. Smith Scholarship and the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy Annual Achievement Scholarship. He also was named to the president’s list and dean’s list. At graduation, Eddy was awarded the James K. Lim Academic Achievement Award. He is a graduate of Waynesburg Central High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from West Virginia University. He has accepted a position with a community pharmacy practice in Waynesburg. Eddy’s parents are Michael and Natalie Eddy.

Nicholas Hawranko of Perryopolis graduated from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. He served as sergeant of arms for the Beta Eta chapter of the Kappa Psi co-educational pharmaceutical fraternity. He also was a member of the WVU chapter of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy/Student College of Clinical Pharmacy, the WVU chapter of the American Pharmacists Association/Academy of Student Pharmacists and the WVU chapter of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists/Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists, for which he served as the blood pressure and cholesterol awareness campaign chairman. Hawranko also was named to the dean’s list. He is a graduate of Frazier High School, and his parents are Nicholas Usher and Alyssa Hawranko.

Nicole Simons of Garards Fort graduated from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. She was a member of the WVU chapter of the American Pharmacists Association/Academy of Student Pharmacists and the WVU chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association. Simons is a graduate of Southeastern Greene High School, and her parents are William Simons Sr. and Robin Simons.

Katherine Yingling of Waynesburg graduated magna cum laude from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. She served as treasurer of the Alpha Omicron chapter of the Lambda Kappa Sigma international professional pharmacy fraternity and vice president of the WVU chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association. Through her involvement with NCPA, Yingling coordinated the Professional Compounding Centers of America’s Introductory Compounding Bootcamp at WVU and was a student member of the Professional Compounding Centers of America Institute. She was a member of the WVU chapter of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, the WVU chapter of the American Pharmacists Association/Academy of Student Pharmacists and the WVU chapter of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists/Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Yingling received the Bernabei Independent Pharmacy Scholarship, the National Community Pharmacists Association Outstanding Student Member Award, the Mary Ann Pavlick and Helen Pavlech Scholarship, the James F. Smith Scholarship and the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy’s Excellence in Pharmacy Scholarship. She also was named to the president’s list and dean’s list. At graduation, she was awarded the dean’s Outstanding Achievement Award. Yingling has accepted a position with a community pharmacy practice in the Pittsburgh area. She is a graduate of Waynesburg Central High School, and her parents are Curtis and Brenda Yingling.
