School registration
Allison Park Elementary School will hold kindergarten and first-grade registration for the 2016-17 school year from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. May 2 and 3. Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 to be eligible for kindergartners; first-graders must be 6 years old on or before Aug. 31. Registration is required for first-graders who are new to the district. To set up an appointment for registration, call the school at 724-745-4700, ext. 300 or 301 A registration packet will be mailed. Bring the completed packet, your child, proof of residency and the child’s birth certificate, Social Security number and vaccination records to registration.
Central Greene School District will conduct kindergarten and first-grade registration for the 2016-17 school year April 26-28 at Waynesburg Central Elementary School. Parents and children should attend as follows:
• Children whose last names begin with A through C – 8:30 to 11 a.m. April 26;
• Children whose last names begin with D through H – Noon to 2:30 p.m. April 26;
• Children whose last names begin with I through M – 8:30 to 11 a.m. April 27;
• Children whose last names begin with N through R – Noon to 2:30 p.m. April 27;
• Children whose last names begin with S through T – 8:30 to 11 a.m. April 28;
• Children whose last names begin with U to Z – Noon to 2:30 p.m. April 28.
In addition, parents who would like to complete an application for the Community Action Southwest Prekindergarten programs at Waynesburg Central Elementary and High schools can do so at this time. Children must be 5 years old before Sept. 1 to attend kindergarten; children new to the district must be 6 years old by Sept. 1 to attend first grade. Bring the child’s proof of birth, immunization records, proof of residency and the name and address of physicians who are treating children with unusual medical conditions. Required immunizations include four D.T. immunizations; three polio; two measles, mumps and rubella; three hepatitis B; and two chickenpox vaccines or documented proof of disease. Speech, language, hearing and vision tests also will be conducted. Various activity and play centers will be available for children who are registering, and guidance counselors, a teacher and principals will be available to answer questions. Registration packets are available in the elementary school office and can be completed in advance. Those who are unable to attend their designated session should call 724-627-3081 to schedule an appointment for another time.
St. Patrick School, 200 Murdock St., Canonsburg, will hold kindergarten screening April 14 for registered students for the 2016-17 school year. The school will send a letter to parents or guardians with the child’s screening appointment. A parent or guardian must attend the screening with the child. Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 1 to attend kindergarten. For more information, call 724-745-7977.
