‘Cal U. Carnival’ theme of homecoming

“Cal U. Carnival” is the theme for events through Saturday as California University of Pennsylvania celebrates homecoming.

Homecoming day celebration will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with pre-parade activities on the main campus. There will be inflatables, balloon art and a petting zoo, along with tables organized by various clubs and organizations.

At 11 a.m., there will be a Picnic on the Patio at the Kara Alumni House for graduates and their guests.

The parade will begin at noon from the Convocation Center, then travel down Third Street to Union Street, and continue back to campus on Second Street.

A Vulcan Huddle tailgate party will start at 1 p.m. at Roadman Park, near the pavilions outside Adamson Stadium. At 3 p.m., the football team will host Gannon University.

Other homecoming events on Thursday include:

• A conversation with award-winning writer Jeanne Marie Laskas, author of “Concussion,” at 7 p.m. in the South Wing of the Cal U. Convocation Center. The event is part of the Noss Lecture Series. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

• A performance by Nine Deez Nite, a 1990s cover band, at 9 p.m. at the Underground Café in the Performance Center at the Natali Student Center.
