Civic club honors seniors at Carmichaels
The Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club recently named Elaine Kerr its Girl of the Month for April and Keiriel Neel its Girl of the Month for May.
Kerr, daughter of Lance and Angie Kerr of Carmichaels, is a senior at Carmichaels Area Junior/Senior High School, where she is involved in the National Honor Society, SADD and chemistry club. She also is a varsity volleyball alumna and an elementary basketball coach.
Her honors include second-team All-Star Greene County Team in volleyball and varsity volleyball best team player. She also placed second in the 2016 Teen Dating Violence Awareness Video.
Kerr also volunteers with the Greene County Humane Society, has volunteered at the Covered Bridge Festival and at High School Open House Night and has helped serve food at local spaghetti dinner fundraisers.
She plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business marketing with a minor in broadcast media.
Neel, daughter of Ryan and Amy Neel of Carmichaels, is a senior at Carmichaels Area Junior/Senior High School, where she maintains a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher and is an active member of the National Honor Society, book club, chemistry club and Envirothon. She also is enrolled in the EMT program.
Neel volunteers in the emergency department at Uniontown Hosptial, and has been employed at Fox’s Pizza for the past two years.
She plans to attend Waynesburg University in the fall to major in nursing.
