Ethnic foods topic of California meeting
The California Area Historical Society will host Chef Christine Somales for a program on “Ethnic Clubs and Their Foods” at 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at First Presbyterian Church, 303 Fourth St., California.
With a degree in culinary arts and hospitality management, Somales is a third-generation and first female chef of her Greek heritage family. She operates Sweet & Spicy Culinary in Charleroi.
Somales teaches cooking classes at Westmoreland County Community College and Community College of Allegheny County. She will provide samples during her presentation.
The program is free, and parking is available in the church lot where the entrance to fellowship hall is by the door in the alley.
