The Greene County 4-H program embarked on a 15-day countywide food drive in July to help the Corner Cupboard Food Bank and 11 county food pantries feed families in need. 4-H members set up collection boxes and greeted customers at six county stores for their Kids Feeding Kids food drive. Patrons donated nearly 1,000 pounds of nonperishable food and more than $2,500 in cash donations at Belkos in Waynesburg, Brodak’s Shop ’n Save in Carmichaels, Hopkins in Nineveh, Pioneer Grocery in Rogersville and Giant Eagle in Waynesburg and Dry Tavern. With the food bank’s ability to purchase $5 in food for every dollar donated, the 4-H Kids Feeding Kids community service project is valued at more than $13,000. Shown at the food bank, above, are 4-H members, from left, Ashley Rogers, Abbey Willis, Logan Willis, Morgan Willis and Vince Maley. At right at Pioneer Grocery are, from left, Avery Berdine, Jessie Cooke, Alexus Berdine and Emily Cooke.
