Oglebay Woodcarvers feature new exhibitors
The Oglebay Woodcarvers Guild of Wheeling, W.Va., will feature a number of new carvers at their Labor Day weekend carving show, which will be held Sept. 2 and 3 in the Pine Room at Oglebay Park.
Admission is free.
Martin Schnur, a professional carver from Comstock Park, Mich., will display realistic painted, stylized and natural finished fish in their aquatic surroundings. His love of nature and the environment are reflected in his work. He uses woodcarving and sculpture, wood-burning and airbrush painting to create 3-D works of art.
Other first-time exhibitors carvers include Sherrie Clark of Bellevue, Ohio; John Broughton of Dayton, Ky.; Bridges Dillehay of Madison, Tenn.; and Janet Ellis of Butler.
All visitors will be given a free raffle ticket for a carved prize, with one winner drawn every hour of the show. There also will be wood and tool sales related to carving, and special events will be conducted throughout the park.
