Alison’s Apple Pie
• Ingredients
For the crust
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
16 tablespoons butter
1/4 to 1/2 cups cold water
For the filling
4 to 5 cups peeled, cored, sliced apples
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Scant teaspoon cloves
To make the crust: Mix all ingredients to form 2 crusts.
To make the filling: Mix together ingredients. Place in bottom pie crust; dot with 3 tablespoons butter. Place top, crimp, score, brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake at 400 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.
