Nolan A. Sion, 18, of Boy Scout Troop 1448, Monongahela, has achieved Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America, after passing his board of review on Sept. 10. Sion, son of Beth and Steve Sion of Monongahela, joined Cub Scouts 12 years ago, and since joining Troop 1448, has completed all required ranks, earned 25 merit badges. He also held the position of senior patrol leader and gained membership in the Order of the Arrow. Sion is a senior at Ringgold High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society and track team. He is employed at the Residence at Hilltop, and plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh to study criminal justice. For his Eagle Scout project, the memorial at American Legion Post 527 in Rankin needed some help. Sion created and designed a new memorial to honor the men and women who served our country. After many hours of planning and hard work, American Legion Post 527 has a new memorial with a granite stone, a newly erected flag pole, benches and landscaping to honor our veterans. A Court of Honor ceremony will be held in November.
