Cookie walk funds scholarship
Customers lined up for cookies and lunch at the recent Cookie Walk Luncheon sponsored by the Town and Country Garden Club at the Carmichaels Activity Center. The Cookie Walk featured dozens of homemade cookies baked by club members. This was the 14th annual cookie walk fundraiser to support the club’s scholarship fund. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior from one of the five Greene County schools. The 2017 recipient is Brady Watters from Carmichaels Area High School. This was the 27th award; the first in 1991 was given to Kevin Willis of Carmichaels Area High School. Volunteers for the event were Brady Watters and National Honor Society Students from CAHS. The quilt raffle featured a queen-size quilt, a “Double Irish Chain,” made and donated by club member Marion Walker. This was the sixth quilt Walker donated to the club’s fundraiser. An auction and door prize completed the event, which was made possible by the support of patrons from local communities.
